Matthias Kuchta plays with almost life-size textile figures on an open stage. Imagine an open air chess game with an actor who moves the figures to present fascinating, witty stories

The actor is always visible, but -like in an exiting chess game- becomes almost unnoticed by the audience. The spectators pay only attention to the puppets. Or imagine a play room with big toys figures, which all of a sudden become alive. This is almost what happens on stage.

Sometimes the actor becomes part of the play, takes on a role and act as a servant to his figures.

At times, the audience participates in the production. The puppets leave the stage and play among the spectators, children take on a role on stage, become princes or witches or royal servants, stormy weather or sunshine.

Other times, the actor is the narrator or the mediator between audience and the puppets. A falling feather, a turn of the head, a short pause at the right moment and the stage with lifeless dolls becomes a magic place: Theater, puppet theater.

The performances have been created in cooperation with kindergarten children, children in elementary school and educators, with special attention not to be too demanding on the children but let fairy tale unfold, the excitement, the release geared to the mind of a child, delivered with wit and fun.

The plays are suitable for children in kindergarten and elementary school, but they also want to address grown-ups. Most gratifying when children and adults watch together.
